Holly, Thanks for relaying these messages. There is one problem I have no
clue why they are being forwarded to ME. I an not sure who they are, or who
you are, and I especially do not know why I have been chosen as a receiver
of these fine and probably important messages.

You (all) are getting these messages because of a poor vacation program.
This program is designed to let people know when a person is on holidays.
In this case, messages to the stained glass list have triggered it into
responding to the stained glass list. We have advised people before to make
sure that their vacation program does not do this. Unfortunately, it
never works.

Sorry for the trouble.

I'm new to this mailing list as well as stained glass, and I'm interested in
locating good mail order suppliers for stained glass tools, supplies,
glass, etc. that would have a catalog of their products available. Any names
of businesses and telephone numbers would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in
advance.

Has anyone out there heard anything about Inland's new band saw called
the "Wire Saw"? What are first impressions, comments, etc.? Does anyone use
band saws out there? I understand the "Wire Saw" has not hit the market
yet. Word about a week ago was that it should be out by Christmas....

Hi Rick,
Would you mind forwarding any responses you get to this request to
me? I only know of one mail order supplier, Glass Crafters, I found them on
the www, unfortunately I don't have the email address with me at this time.
I am interested in finding other mail order suppliers. By the way, I placed
an order with Glass Crafters 2 weeks ago but have yet to receive the
merchandise.
Thanks,

We have Glass Crafters online at The CraftWEB Project for some time now,
at http://www.craftweb.com/org/glascrafts/glascraf.shtml

and we have just brought Diamond Tech International online (manufacturer
of glass band saws) at http://www.craftweb.com/org/diamond/dti.shtml.

Delphi Stained Glass is also a mailorder supplier already online with a
web page (I don't remember the page but Yahoo will have it) and we will
be adding a page for them at The CraftWEB Project within the next couple
of weeks).

Hope that helps!

Rick,
I haven't used the Inland wire saw but have been using a band saw...a lot
lately. I'm not impressed if you want to know the truth. My husband and
I had a contest the other night. We each cut 5 of the same identical
piece....me using the band saw, he the traditional way. He won!!!! And
that was including his grinding time as well.
I don't know if this helps or not....just my 2 cents worth.

I agree with your assesment. The one time I used a band saw to make a
sever inside cut it so weakend the pieces that 8 of 10 broke prior to
installation. The next time I cut the pieces by hand and trimed the
leads to allow the slight rounding of the cut glass and had all pieces
survive through installation.

Hi Rick and welcome.

I don't have a store near me so I mail order a lot. Some addresses to
try:

Delphi
2116 East Michigan Ave
Lansing MI 48912
1-800-248-2048

Glass Crafters
398 Interstate Court
Sarasota. FL 34240
1-800-422-4552 or 813-379-8333

Warner Crivellaro
1855 Weaversville Rd
Allentown, PA 18103
1-800-523-4242

Whitmore Durgin
825 Market
Rockland, MA 02370
1-800-262-1790

All of these folks have been in business for a long time. Most of the
time, supplies arrive quite quickly from them, but back orders from
wholesalers and holidays slow all of them down from time to time. It's
worth supporting your local glass store whenever you can (if you have
one!). If it closes, you lose the ability to choose glass at first
hand and you learn quickly to stock up on basics, since there's no
running into town when you need another roll of solder, or
something....

I also have an extensive list kept current by a woman on the Prodigy SG
board. With her permission, I might be able to send that to those
interested. Let me know and good luck with your orders! Peggy

I have been very pleased with Delphi and also have used Warner Crivellaro
extensively. Both respond quickly and are very helpful with a phone
call to their 800 numbers. Delphi I have corresponded to online but
Warner doesn't participate to my knowledge.
