Best of Jethro Tull - Munich 1997
Ian Anderson Impressions from the Munich Concert 1997

18:30 h: We are waiting in front of the Rudi-Sedlmayer-Halle. As it started to rain the securityfolks let us move inside. Until the concert started we were listening to music from the CD-project Ian made together with Leslie Mandoki...a fascinating sound Ian choosed himself to guide his fans into the following Jethro Tull-concert. These were sitting around, talking...waiting for the start. Short time before 20:00 h everyone stood up and got ready for the concert.

20:00 h: The room went dark, the stageillumination went on and the concert started with the sound of a motorbike coming out the speakers....the intro for the Hank Davison Band...the warm-up- group for Tull. After 20 minutes of well sounding hardrock and lots of applause by the waiting Tull-fans the lights went on again and the stagehelpers moved away the equipement of the warm-up-band.

20:30 h: The light went out again and Tull came on stage starting with "Song for Jeffrey" followed by "Aqualung", a long version of "Thick as a brick" and nearly 2 more hours of exiting music. To clear many discusions of the last months out, Ian's voice was great..really well sounding....no reason to give up singing at all. Songs like " Locomotive breath", "Acres wild", "My god", "Beside myself", the "Songs from the wood"-Medley or instrumentals like "Inside of a minarett" from the Divinities-album showed a performance and professionality artists of today still can learn from. Special guest of the evening was the hungarian artist Leslie Mandoki who lives here in Munich. Ian got him on stage to play one of the songs out of thew CD-project they had made together. It was about 22:30 h as the music finished first and Tull went of stage but the fans made them coming back on again for another 3 songs. Ian finally closed this fantastic event with "Cheerio" out of the album "Broadsword and the Beast". Then a warm goodbye to the fans and Tull was gone for this time to be back soon hopefully !!!!!

23:00 h: We moved out to a cold and rainy Munich summernight going to the backdoor of the Rudi-Sedlmaier- Halle to wait for Ian and the band to come out. Missing Ian we got a hold of the band so I got my ticket signed as a memory to my first Tull-live-concert ! I know for sure it will not be my last one !!!

Ticked signed by Tull
