These tiles are decorated by a gold-firing process, which layers real 14 to 22 KT gold on top of the glass. A special technique is employed to bond the gold to the surface of the glass. It is possible, though difficult, to scratch this gold off the surface, so these are not suitable for high-traffic areas.
